Transportation Planning Service

On the Bus Transportation Planning Service provides school districts with the resources and expertise needed to support administrative and transportation leaders.

On The Bus work is centered on safety, efficiency, and compliance within district-operated and contracted pupil transportation programs. We partner with districts to deliver practical guidance, informed planning, and solutions grounded in real-world transportation experience.

The team is made up of highly credentialed professionals with decades of combined experience at the district, state, and national levels.

Base Service (BOCES Aided)

• 24/7/365 hotline support
• Weekly email updates
• Monthly webinars (September–June)
• Electronic newsletter
• Annual transportation training for supervisors, directors, and district leaders
• SharePoint upload assistance service

Base members may have summer and school-year transportation contracts, aided and leased items, and NYSED compliance documentation uploaded and managed by On the Bus.

• Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Bid services
• Route Efficiency Studies

State Aid

Districts will receive BOCES aid for their membership in the service. Transportation aid will be available for any add-on services.

2026-2027 Base Service Pricing (BOCES Aided)

2,000 Students Or Less

Annual Base Fee: $6,195
Administration Fee: $372

2,001 Students Or Greater

Annual Base Fee: $9,900
Administration Fee: $594

Fees based on student enrollment and prorated based on start date.
Cross contracted clients will incur an administration fee.

Base Service Clients:
Per Diem: $995*
Per Hour: $199*

Non-Clients:
Per Diem: $1,600*
Per Hour: $695*

*Travel expenses billed in addition to per diem and hourly rates
