Guardx event 2026

Students from across Franklin, Essex and Hamilton counties stepped outside the classroom on Wednesday, May 27, and experienced a day of career exploration as FEH BOCES co-hosted two hands-on events focused on helping students discover possible paths for their futures.

The day featured two separate events happening simultaneously in Malone, each designed to introduce students to career opportunities, educational pathways and the many professions that help keep communities running.

At the Malone Rec Park, FEH BOCES partnered with the New York Army National Guard to host their second annual Guard-X event, an interactive experience that brought together military personnel, law enforcement agencies, emergency responders and other public service organizations from across the region.

Students had the opportunity to explore military and emergency response vehicles, view specialized equipment up close and watch live demonstrations throughout the day. Representatives from participating organizations spoke with students about careers in public service, training opportunities and the experiences that led them into their professions.

At the Malone Civic Center, FEH BOCES and Malone Central School District hosted a career fair featuring representatives from a wide range of industries and organizations.

From healthcare and physical therapy to adult education, skilled trades and local businesses, students were able to connect directly with professionals and ask questions about career options, educational requirements and opportunities available throughout the North Country and beyond.

The events created an environment where students could begin thinking about life after graduation while learning firsthand about the many directions their future could take.

By bringing together professionals, educators and community organizations, FEH BOCES continues to provide students with meaningful experiences that help bridge the gap between education and the workforce, showing students that there is no single path to success.

FEH BOCES extends its appreciation to every business, military organization, law enforcement agency, emergency response team, educational program and community partner that participated in the day’s events. This support and participation helped provide students with valuable real-world insight and a closer look at the many career paths available to them.
