Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES invites the public to an open house this week at Adirondack Educational Center, its school in Saranac Lake.

The open house runs 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16. Adirondack Educational Center is at 711 Route 3 in Saranac Lake.

Guests will be welcome to tour the building. Each classroom will be open, and teachers will be in each room to talk about their program and demonstrate tools and other equipment used in it. Some classrooms will have students helping with demonstrations as well.

Refreshments will be served by our Culinary Arts students in their kitchen classroom.

FEH BOCES offers a range of hands-on, career-oriented educational programs at Adirondack Educational Center, which welcomes students from Long Lake, Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake and Lake Placid central school districts. Many classrooms are set up to mimic the workplace, and FEH BOCES partners with local businesses and organizations to help students get real-world experience. Most of the programs at AEC help students earn certifications or college credits.

The Career and Technical Education programs at AEC are half-day, two-year programs for juniors and seniors. Students can choose from Automotive Technology, Building Trades, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Health Occupations and Natural Resource Science.

Two New Vision programs, for seniors only, also fall under the CTE umbrella: Health Care Exploration and Game Design and Development.

Adirondack Educational Center also houses an Alternative Education program, which helps students who have trouble thriving in a traditional school setting find their path to graduation.

Masks will be required at all times during the open house, and everyone entering the school will be required to fill out a coronavirus questionnaire when they arrive.

RSVP here. Anyone with questions about the event should call the school at 518-891-1330.
