Welcome
to the Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES |
School Improvement
School improvement efforts nationally, in New
York, and regionally focus on results, promote local initiatives, and seek to empower
educators at all levels. The
Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES Office of Special Services, in collaboration with the
Adirondack Teacher Center (ATC) and the Special Education Training and Resource Center
(SETRC), supports districts by providing regional leadership, encouraging local
initiatives, providing planning assistance, and staff development opportunities designed
to meet regionally identified school improvement needs and/or state initiatives. The activities described on the following pages
reflect this commitment.
Additionally, this service provides BOCES aid to
districts for workshop costs, consultant fees, facility use, meals, materials, lodging and
transportation costs for presenters, and substitute costs or teacher stipends (for summer
and other appropriate activities) for all school improvement, curriculum, and staff
development expenses that meet Co-Ser guidelines.
The specific guidelines are:
Component districts must be part of the base service
Activities are coordinated by BOCES and have multi-district participation
Activities are tied to the school improvement planning process
District School Improvement Plans are on file with the District
Superintendent (Comprehensive District
Education Plans meet this requirement)
The School/Curriculum Improvement activities in
this brochure are available to districts outside the Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES via a
cross-contract, if applicable guidelines are met.
